Falling Flowers
Author: Li Shangyin

高阁客竟去,小园花乱飞。
Guests have all left the lofty pavilion,
In the small garden, petals wildly fly.
参差连曲陌,迢递送斜晖。
Scattered and uneven, they cover the winding paths,
Far and wide, they see off the setting sun’s rays.
肠断未忍扫,眼穿仍欲归。
Heartbroken, I cannot bear to sweep them away,
Eyes strained, I still long for them to return.
芳心向春尽,所得是沾衣。
The fragrant heart ends with the spring,
All that remains is tears wetting my robe.
